How-to

No lamp needed. Learn how to apply Velvora polish nail strips for a smooth, chip-resistant manicure: prep, placement, filing, and pro tips to make them last longer.

What you need

Optional

  • Glossy top coat (for extra shine & wear)
  • Cuticle oil for daily aftercare

Step-by-step application

+ The method
  1. Prep: Complete nail prep (see Getting Started).
  2. Warm strip: Rub between fingers for 3–5 seconds to increase flexibility.
  3. Place: Align 1 mm off the cuticle; anchor at center, then smooth outwards.
  4. Press: Smooth firmly from center → sides → free edge; avoid stretching.
  5. Trim: Fold over the free edge; file downward only at 45°.
  6. Optional top coat: Wait 10–15 min, then apply thin top coat for extra gloss and chip protection.
Pro tip: Avoid water/steam for 3 hours after application so adhesive sets fully.

Fit & trimming

+ Sizing rules
  • Pick a strip slightly narrower than your nail plate.
  • Leave 0.5–1 mm gap at the cuticle and sidewalls.
  • Never stretch strips — stretching leads to edge lifts.
+ Filing technique

Always file downward at a 45° angle, one direction only. Avoid “sawing” motions which cause fraying.

Tips to make them last

+ Boost wear time
  • Re-cap free edge with top coat every 3–4 days.
  • Apply cuticle oil daily.
  • Wear gloves for cleaning, dishes, and gardening.

Mistakes to avoid

+ Common pitfalls
  • Applying on oily/damp nails (always use alcohol wipe before).
  • Stretching strips to fit (they’ll shrink back).
  • Filing upwards or side-to-side (causes fray).
  • Getting hands wet too soon after application.
