Pink nails: ideas for every shade, finish and season
By Velvora · Checked 23 October 2026
In short
Milky baby pinks and pinky nudes are the easiest pink nails to wear: they suit most skin tones, work in the office and look neat as they grow out. Go hot pink for summer, chrome or glitter for parties, and pearl or rose gold pinks for winter. Gel strips do all of them at home in about ten minutes.
Which pink nails suit your skin tone?
Pink is a big family, from barely-there pinky nudes to full neon. When we checked on 23 October 2026, 77 designs on our gel strip collection were tagged pink, so the trick is to match your undertone rather than hunt for one perfect shade.
Stand by a window in daylight and look at the veins on your wrist. Blue or purple usually means cool undertones, greenish means warm, and a bit of both means neutral.
- Cool undertones: soft, blue-based pinks, mauves and berry tones. Try Rosy Glow (a milky baby pink), Cotton Candy (a pale lilac pink) or Wild Orchid (a rich raspberry).
- Warm undertones: peachy, coral and rose gold pinks. Try Pink Glow (a sheer peachy pink with golden shimmer), Pretty in Pink (a bright coral pink) or Glittering Rose (rose gold glitter).
- Neutral undertones: lucky you, most pinks work. Dusty roses such as Pink Pulse and Earthy Rose are an easy place to start.
- Still torn? The Find Your Shade tool narrows it down by occasion and how much colour you want.
Baby pink and milky pink nails
This is the pink that goes with everything: the school run, the big meeting, a wedding, a wet Tuesday. Who What Wear UK's autumn 2026 colour edit picked out paler pinks with creamy bases, and noted that they still look neat as your nails grow out.
For a true baby pink, Rosy Glow is soft, opaque and slightly milky. Pink Blush is paler and leans pinky nude, and Think Pink is a pinky beige for days you want almost-nude. All three have a high-gloss finish and are calm enough for any office.
Hot pink nails: when to go bright
Hot pink is holiday nails in a nutshell, and it is also a decent cure for a grey January. Electric Pink is a neon hot pink with a high-gloss shine, Wild Orchid is a raspberry pink with a warm red undertone that works just as well on a winter evening, and Magenta Mirage is a raspberry magenta packed with fine laser glitter.
If neon feels like a lot, Pretty in Pink is a juicy coral pink that looks lovely against a tan.
Pink French tips and pink ombre nails
A pink French is the polished all-rounder. Classic French Tip is a sheer natural pink with crisp white tips. Modern French Tip swaps the sharp smile line for a soft angled sweep, and French Tip Bloom adds delicate gold accents to a milky pink base. For something cheekier, Pastel French Twist puts a different pastel tip on every nail.
Pink ombre strips do the blending for you, which is handy, because nobody has time to sponge a gradient on a weeknight. Pink Ombre fades from blush pink at the cuticle to white at the tip. Petal Ombre deepens from nude pink to dusty rose, with tiny shimmering blossoms. Rose Ombre is a dusty rosewood with a soft cat-eye glow for autumn and winter.
Pink chrome, glitter and pearl nails
With a strip, the finish is already built in: no chrome powder, no glitter fallout, no buffing. Pink Chrome is a bright fuchsia with a mirror finish for birthdays and nights out. Rose Chrome is a dustier rose chrome that sits well with rose gold jewellery.
For sparkle, Pink Stardust is an orchid pink with holographic glitter, Glittering Rose is a rose gold glitter made for Christmas parties, and Marble Blush is a dusty rose with a fine silver sparkle for when full glitter feels too much. Rose Pearl is a milky white with a soft pink pearl sheen: quietly glamorous and subtle enough for every day.
Glittery and very pigmented strips block more light, so give them an extra 15 to 30 seconds under the lamp.
Pink nails for work, weddings and nights out
Pink is the one colour that can do the office, a wedding and a hen do without a change of outfit. A rough guide:
- Work and interviews: short, clean and glossy is the safe bet. A sheer nude, a milky pink or a soft French all fit, and Earthy Rose and Modern French Tip are both in our Work Nails edit.
- Weddings and bridal: milky nudes, sheer pinks, a fine French tip or a pearl finish. French Tip Bloom and Rose Pearl are easy picks.
- Birthdays and hen dos: pink glitter and chrome look great in photos. Pink Stardust, Rose Chrome and Pink Chrome all feature in our occasion edits.
- Holidays and festivals: Electric Pink, with matching toes.
Pink nails for winter and Christmas
Pink does not have to hibernate in October. For autumn, the dusty pinks work hardest: Earthy Rose is a rosy taupe that suits autumn layers, and Rose Ombre brings a little cat-eye sparkle.
For the party season, Glittering Rose and Rose Chrome are the glam options, and Rose Pearl gives you a wintry pearl without going full sparkle. If you want festive nails but cannot face another red, Pink Frost has white snowdrift tips and little snowman motifs, and Pink Wonderland mixes pale pink with candy cane stripes. Prefer a classic red? Our Christmas nails guide has those covered.
Pink on short nails vs long nails
Short nails suit solids, fine glitter and soft French tips, because they keep the nail looking balanced rather than crowded. A pink close to your skin tone, or a soft ombre, also makes short nails look longer. Save wide, high-contrast patterns for when you have the length to show them off.
Gel strips follow your own nail: you trim them at the tip rather than using them to add length. On longer nails there is room for ombre, marble and chrome, which is where Pink Ombre, Petal Ombre and Pink Chrome come into their own.
How to make pink nails last
Velvora gel strips wear for up to 14 days on fingernails, and most early lifting comes down to the first five minutes.
- Start with clean, dry, oil-free nails, and wait at least 30 minutes after a bath or the washing up.
- Pick a strip a touch narrower than your nail, and leave a hairline gap at the cuticle and sides.
- Fold the excess over the tip and file downwards to seal the edge.
- Cure for about 60 seconds a hand, thumbs separately, adding 15 to 30 seconds for glitter.
- Wear rubber gloves for the washing up, and run cuticle oil round the edges every few days.
- When you fancy a change, cuticle oil and a wooden stick lift them off, with no acetone.
Matching pink toes with pedicure strips
Pedicure gel strips are the same semi-cured gel, shaped for toes, and they often last longer than on fingers. Pink pedicure sets include Electric Pink, Pink Ombre, Rose Pearl, Earthy Rose and Rose Quartz, a milky blush pink with gold foil flecks. They are £12.99 a set at full price.
Matching is the easy route, but a toning pair looks just as deliberate: Pink Blush on your fingers with Rose Pearl toes, for example.

Questions
Which pink nail colour suits my skin tone?+
Cool undertones suit blue-based pinks such as baby pink, lilac pink and raspberry. Warm undertones suit peachy, coral and rose gold pinks. Neutral undertones can wear most pinks, and dusty roses are an easy start. To check, look at your wrist veins in daylight: blue or purple is cool, greenish is warm.
Are pink nails OK for autumn and winter?+
Yes. Who What Wear UK's autumn 2026 colour edit picked paler pinks with creamy bases. For the colder months, dusty roses, pearl pinks and rose gold glitter feel seasonal: Velvora's Earthy Rose, Rose Pearl and Glittering Rose are good places to start.
What is the difference between baby pink and nude pink nails?+
Baby pink is a clear, soft pink, like Velvora's Rosy Glow. A pinky nude is paler and closer to your skin, like Pink Blush, or Think Pink, which leans beige. Both are easy everyday shades for work, weddings and any season.
How do I get pink chrome nails at home?+
Use a chrome gel strip, so the mirror finish is already built in and there is no powder or buffing. Velvora's Pink Chrome is a bright fuchsia chrome and Rose Chrome a dusty rose chrome. Apply, trim and file, then cure under a UV or LED lamp for about 60 seconds a hand.
How long do pink gel nail strips last?+
Up to 14 days on fingernails, and often longer on toes. Clean, oil-free nails, a strip slightly narrower than your nail, a sealed tip and a full cure all help. Add 15 to 30 seconds under the lamp for glittery shades, and wear gloves for the washing up.
Can I match my toes to my pink nails?+
Yes. Velvora's pink pedicure gel strips include Electric Pink, Pink Ombre, Rose Pearl, Earthy Rose and Rose Quartz, at £12.99 a set at full price. They are the same semi-cured gel, shaped for toes, and often last longer than on fingers.
