Velvora vs MoYou London: gel nail strips compared

By Velvora · Checked 14 October 2026

In short

Velvora and MoYou London both sell semi-cured gel nail strips in sets of 20 with a nail file and a stick, cured for about 60 seconds under a UV or LED lamp and described as HEMA free. At full price on 14 October 2026, a Velvora set was £11.99 and MoYou London sets were £12.99 to £13.99. MoYou London is also sold at Boots.

Same kind of product, different details

Both brands make semi-cured gel strips: real gel that arrives soft, is pressed onto the nail, trimmed, and then hardened under a lamp. The differences are in price, delivery, range, what each brand says about wear and removal, and where you can buy.

Everything about MoYou London below comes from its own website as we found it on 14 October 2026.

Price and what is in the box

On moyou.co.uk, the single gel strip sets we checked were £12.99 or £13.99 at full price. Each box holds 20 strips in different widths, a nail file and a wooden stick, and one product page gives the strips as 24mm long and 8.5mm to 16mm wide. MoYou London also offers a monthly gel strip subscription from £22.99, and was running multibuy codes when we checked.

A Velvora gel set is £11.99 at full price, with 20 strips in mixed sizes, a nail file and a manicure stick. Velvora does not sell subscriptions.

Both brands sell a lamp separately. Velvora's mini UV/LED lamp is £11, charges by USB-C and comes in blue or pink. MoYou London listed a UV LED lamp at £16.99, and offered a free lamp with three sets using a code.

Curing

MoYou London's product pages say to cure for 60 seconds under a UV/LED lamp, and its FAQ says the strips can be cured again if they are not fully hard. MoYou London also says its strips can be cured in sunlight instead of a lamp.

Velvora strips cure in about 60 seconds under a UV or LED lamp. Cure thumbs on their own, and add 15 to 30 seconds for very dark or glittery shades.

Wear and removal

MoYou London's wear claims vary across its pages: up to two weeks on its product pages, and up to two to three weeks on its collection page, with its FAQ saying up to three weeks. Velvora states up to 14 days on fingernails, often longer on toes. In Velvora's own wear tests, strips typically last 10 to 14 days.

For removal, MoYou London's product pages describe cuticle oil around the edges and lifting with the wooden stick, while its how-to and allergy advice pages describe using nail polish remover between the strip and the nail. It also sells an Easypeel gel wrap remover at £11.99. Velvora strips come off with a few drops of cuticle oil and a wooden stick, with no acetone. Both brands say to lift gently rather than pull.

HEMA and ingredients

Both brands say their strips are HEMA free and TPO free, and both describe them as vegan and cruelty-free. MoYou London publishes an ingredients list on its product pages, and its allergy advice page notes that its strips contain acrylate, which can trigger reactions in some people.

That is true of semi-cured gel in general. The ingredients Velvora publishes include Acrylates Copolymer and Polyurethane Acrylate Oligomer, so if you have reacted to gel before, read our HEMA free guide before choosing either brand.

Where to buy and delivery

MoYou London sells at moyou.co.uk, with free UK tracked delivery over £40 and £5 delivery below that, and its gel nail strips are also listed at Boots.

Velvora sells at velvora.co.uk and delivers within the UK by Royal Mail. Tracked 48 is £3.49, or free on orders over £35, and orders are usually dispatched within 1 to 2 working days.

Which might suit you

Neither is the right answer for everyone. These are the differences that tend to decide it.

  • MoYou London may suit you if you want to pick up a set at Boots, want a large range of designs to choose from, like the option of a subscription, or want to try curing in sunlight.
  • Velvora may suit you if you want the lower full price per set, free delivery from £35, removal with cuticle oil and no acetone, and no subscription.
  • With either brand, you will need a UV or LED lamp for the full 60 second cure.
