What nails go with your dress
- Sage or emerald green
- Green loves warm neutrals and gold. Try a milky pink with a gold line (Gold Edged), a nude with gold glitter tips (Champagne Fade) or a creamy nude (Nude Blossom). For sage, soft lilac works too.
- Navy
- Go cool and light: an icy blue with silver shimmer (Frosty Blue), a pale sky blue (Cloud Nine) or a nude French with a fine silver line (Silver Lined French Tip).
- Pastels
- Stay in the same soft family rather than matching exactly. Lilac with lavender, peach with coral, and pink with almost anything: Lavender Pearl, Peachy Ombre, Cotton Candy or Pastel Ombre.
- Red
- Let the dress do the talking. A dusty rose with a little shimmer (Marble Blush) or a greige (Timeless Taupe) looks polished, and avoids two reds that do not quite match.
- Black
- Black is the one dress that suits a bit more sparkle. Rose gold glitter (Glittering Rose), a pink with gold glitter fade (Royal Dip) or a rose chrome look elegant rather than party.
Wedding guest nails, by dress colour
The easiest way to choose wedding guest nails is to start with the dress. Below, each dress colour has a few shades that sit well with it, from soft neutrals to a little sparkle.
The one rule most guests follow is to leave stark bridal white to the bride. Soft pinks, pearl, pastels and gold accents all feel dressed up without stealing the moment.
The easiest wedding guest nails are soft and polished: a neutral pink, a pearly pastel or a nude with a fine gold detail, chosen to suit the colour of your dress rather than match it exactly.
Velvora gel strips go on at home in about ten minutes and set under a UV or LED lamp in about 60 seconds. They last up to 14 days on fingernails, so a set applied a day or two before the wedding still looks fresh for the photos, the speeches and the dancing.
Wearing sandals? Our pedicure strips are the same semi-cured gel cut for toes, and they often last longer than on fingers. The same shades suit the races, christenings and garden parties, so one set can do more than one summer event.

Good to know
What colour nails should a wedding guest wear?+
Soft, polished shades are the safe choice: neutral pink, pearl, pastels, nude with a gold detail, or a little rose gold sparkle. Choose them to suit your dress rather than match it, and leave stark white to the bride.
What nails go with a sage green dress?+
Warm neutrals with a touch of gold suit sage green. A milky pink with a gold cuticle line, a nude with gold glitter tips or a creamy nude all work, and a soft lilac is a pretty alternative if you want a hint of colour.
What nails go with a navy dress?+
Cool, light shades sit well against navy: an icy blue with silver shimmer, a pale sky blue, or a nude French tip with a fine silver line. A soft pink also works if you would rather keep it neutral.
Can I wear white or French nails to someone else’s wedding?+
Most guests avoid stark white, as it is the bride’s colour. A soft French on a pink or nude base is fine, and a French with a fine silver line or a coloured tip makes it feel clearly like a guest look.
How many days before the wedding should I do my nails?+
One or two days before is ideal, so the edges are settled and nothing has had time to chip. Velvora gel strips last up to 14 days on fingernails, so if it is a weekend of celebrations, you are covered.
